Animation on Blu-ray

The Academy Award-nominated film The Secret of Kells is being released on Blu-ray on October 5th, thanks to New Video Group.

Following up on the release of A Charlie Brown Christmas on Blu-ray, Warner Bros is releasing another Peanuts holiday classic on September 7th.

Disney just officially announced the street date and specs of the Beauty and the Beast Diamond Edition Blu-ray. It lands on October 5th, with the DVD following on November 23rd.

Here’s a quick tip to anyone who hasn’t picked up Toy Story or Toy Story 2 on Blu-ray yet, but plans to. Over at Pixar Fanboy I’ve detailed how you can snag each for less than $7 total, and get 2 free movie tickets for Toy Story 3 in the process.

Today is a great day for animated Blu-rays. We get both Toy Story films from Pixar for the first time in HD, as well as Fantastic Mr. Fox, one of my favorite films of 2009.

Disney just sent information on the latest Tinker Bell animated Blu-ray from DisneyToons Studios. It will hit retail on September 21st, 2010.

The 1987 classic G.I. JOE movie is headed to Blu-ray in July thanks to Shout! Factory. Now all we need is a US release of the 80s Transformers movie and we’ll be set.

Batman Mask of the Phantasm was the first full-length animated feature based on the hit 90s television show by Bruce Timm. It is one of the best Batman movies of all time, and would be great to have on Blu-ray.
